Turmeric: Medicine in Your Pantry

image

This vibrant Indian spice is a major inflammation fighter, but are you using it?

Many studies have proven that turmeric can decrease incidences of cancer, arthritis, Alzheimer’s, heart disease and can help ease digestive woes and lessen general pain in the body.  It’s been proven to be as effective as ibuprofen but without any of the side effects.  All these health benefits stem from the bright yellow pigment called curcumin, which is also widely used as a Chinese medicinal herb. I like it on eggs, lentils, roasted cauliflower, and rubbed on chicken (with a squeeze of lemon juice).
